Hi! My name is Anna Norkett, and I am a junior from Flower Mound, Texas, studying Economics and Public Policy.
Coming to SMU was the best decision I ever made — this school has given me more opportunities than I could have imagined and an incredible community of true world changers. My perspective has been challenged here, and I have been undoubtedly and irreversibly shaped by the education I’ve received and the people I’ve met.
It’s my challenge to make sure every Mustang can say the same thing as they walk across the stage at graduation.
I recognize there are issues on campus that are preventing this, though. These problems often go unheard, and right now, there is no one necessarily advocating for them to be brought to light and solved by your student governing body.
I am running for Student Body President because I want to be that advocate. I want to be the bridge between all groups on campus, no matter organization affiliation, ethnicity, socioeconomic background, or interests. I want community to stop being a catchy platform word and instead become a reality on campus. I want unity to be something we actually live out instead of just talk about.
